Global outreach and strategic collaboration are fundamental to the vision of the Tsakos Enhanced Education Nautical Studies – TEENS Merchant Marine Academy, reinforcing its commitment to advancing maritime professional development beyond national borders. In line with this objective, TEENS actively supports knowledge exchange and skill enhancement in countries with strong maritime traditions.

A landmark moment in this pursuit took place in February 12th, 2025 at the Head Office of the Maria Tsakos Public Benefit Foundation - International Centre for Maritime Research and Tradition in Chios, where a "Declaration of Twinning" was officially signed between the TEENS Merchant Marine Academy and the Naval Academy of Uruguay – Escuela Naval de la República Oriental del Uruguay.

This twinning agreement extends the long-standing cooperation and strong maritime and cultural ties between Greece and Uruguay—relations that the Tsakos Group has nurtured for decades. At the same time, it reflects a shared commitment by both Academies to foster maritime education and elevate the professional skills of future maritime professionals.

The strategic partnership, formalized by the signed Declaration, establishes a dynamic bridge of knowledge and expertise, offering valuable opportunities for students at both institutions. This collaboration will facilitate the exchange of best practices, technical know-how, and interdisciplinary interaction between students and faculty. Additionally, students from both Academies will have the opportunity to participate in exchange programs, internships, and joint training activities, enhancing their skills and broadening their professional perspectives within an international maritime environment.

By uniting efforts, the two Academies reaffirm their dedication to shaping the next generation of maritime leaders, further strengthening global cooperation in maritime education and professional development.
