We are proud to share that the Tsakos Group received the Gold Award in the Social Leader category at the ESG International Shipping Awards, held on Friday, 23rd May.

This global event recognizes the efforts and achievements of companies in the shipping industry worldwide that demonstrate exceptional commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.

Mrs. Elisavet N. Tsakou received the award on behalf of the Tsakos Group, which was honored for its long-standing commitment to social responsibility and employee wellbeing, as well as for founding Greece’s first private nonprofit Merchant Marine Academy.

Capt. P.N. Tsakos and a group of Management and Staff Members attended the Ceremony.

In a brief address, Captain Panagiotis N. Tsakos remarked: “As a Captain of the older generation, I must admit that terms like ESG were not part of our vocabulary growing up in Kardamyla, Chios. Yet, in Greek shipping, for decades—if not centuries—we have lived by three simple principles: do your work to the best of your ability, always honour your word, and take good care of your people and your community.”

Ms. Elisavet Tsakou, delivering the Captain’s foreword, concluded with: “There is always more to be done. So, we need to continue trying —day after day—to do more, and to do better.”

The Gold Award is a testament to the Tsakos Group’s visionary leadership and enduring commitment to its people, placing the company at the forefront of ESG excellence in the global shipping community.
