Annual Capital Link Greek Shipping Forum awards Captain Panagiotis Tsakos
Captain Panagiotis Tsakos received the Shipping Leadership Award at the 4th Annual Capital Link Greek Shipping Forum: «Navigating through Challenges and Opportunities», held in Athens, on 27th February 2013.
In his acceptance speech, Cpt Tsakos denoted vividly the importance of the shipping industry for Greece, stressing the need for the industry to attract the best and most educated minds. Cpt Tsakos talked of an industry that isn't a business for the few, or of a cluster of families; ths shipping industry should be perceived as a global industry that affects people's lives the world over, and its pivotal importance for the Greek economy should be highlighted.
Professor Costantinos Grammenos, who praised the Captain’s achievements in the shipping industry, in building a colossal company with a fleet of over ninety vessels, proving he is a natural leader, presented the award.
In his address the Greek Shipping Minister Constantinos Mousouroulis stated: "(...) I would like, on behalf of Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, to congratulate Captain Panayiotis Tsakos from Kardamyla. Captain, I congratulate you. Your distinction is making me especially proud for our common homeland, Chios”.
A host of distinguished guests from the worldwide shipping community as well as politicians were present to honour Captain Tsakos for his lifetime achievements in shipping.
