  • 2012
  • Tsakos Energy Navigation Ltd enters the Shuttle Tankers.

  • “Maria’s Home – Education and Culture Campus” is established in Kardamyla, Chios
  • Tsakos Columbia Shipmanagement ("TCM") S.A. establishes the Maria Tsakos TCM Academy- Training Centre.

  • Tsakos Columbia Shipmanagement ("TCM") S.A. establishes local office presence in Brazil.
  • Establishment of Tsakos Maritime Philippines Inc, Manila.
  • At the end of 2014 the Tsakos Fleet numbers 87 vessels, including Newbuildings, of a total DWT 8.055.667 tones.

  • The first oil carrier vessel mt Irenes Fortune, of dwt 18.500 is placed under the Company’s management.

  • Establishment of Tsakos Industrias Navales S.A. of Uruguay.
  • Establishment of the Tsakos Group Chartering division operating under the name Tsakos Chartering S.A.
  • 1978
  • Establishment of the Maria Tsakos Foundation in Montevideo, Uruguay.
  • Establishment of Tsakos Shipping (London) Ltd.
  • 1979
  • Commercial agro-forestry and farming activities commence in Uruguay.
  • At the end of the year, the Tsakos fleet numbered 20 vessels.
  • 1980
  • Establishment of the Tsakos S&P division.
  • 1981
  • Establishment of the Tsakos Human Resources office on the island of Chios, Hellas.

  • Tsakos Shipping & Trading S.A. is among the founding members of the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA).
  • The Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA), is a voluntary association formed to enhance environmental awareness and consciousness in the shipping industry and the society in Greece in protecting its extended sea fronts.
  • 1983
  • Tsakos Industrias Navales S.A.: delivers its first Newbuilding, the M/V Rampla Juniors.
  • 1984
  • Participation in oil exploration projects in the Gulf of Mexico and Ecuador.
  • 1986
  • Participation in oil exploration project in Gulf of Mexico and Ecuator.
  • First off-shore venture through the participation in an oil exploration project in Ecuador.
  • 1987
  • The Group initiates the sponsorship of two Mariners' Polytechnic Colleges in Naga and Legaspi, Philippines.
  • 1989
  • Tsakos Industrias Navales S.A.: Yard acquired a Floating Dock of 20.000 tons lifting capacity and upgraded its port and workshops facilities.
  • Establishment of the Group's own offices in the Philippines to follow the professional education and employment of Filipino seafarers and the provision of support services for their families. Establishment of the Tsakos Seamen's Centre in Manila to facilitate attendance at safety and pre-boarding seminars.
  • At the end of the year, the Tsakos Fleet numbered 31 vessels.
  • 1991
  • The activities of Tsakos Industrias Navales are declared of National Interest to the Government of Uruguay by Ministerial Decree.
  • 1992
  • Establishment of Maritime Investment Fund Ltd.(MIF Ltd) in Bermuda and listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange.
  • 1994
  • Tsakos Industrias Navales S.A. acquires dredger WiFi in connection with dredging and river transportation (Hidrovia) projects in the Rio de la Plata area.
  • Establishment of Tsakos Singapore - a representative office which is later upgraded to a fully commercial and operational office, whilst its main objective being service to the increasing container and feeder fleet operational in the Pacific Rim.
  • Establishment of Argosy Insurance Company Ltd, in Bermuda to act as the Group's captive insurance vehicle.
  • 1995
  • Inauguration of "Megaron Makedonia" at 367 Syngrou Avenue, the Tsakos-owned headquarters in Athens.
  • 1996
  • The Tsakos Group sponsors expansion of the Maritime Academy for Engineers on the island of Chios.
  • 1997
  • In a joint venture with the National Shipping Company of Guinea a newly formed Tsakos Group is designated exclusive National Carrier for bauxite and alumina cargoes.
  • Participation in a major Caspian Sea oil exploration project.
  • The Tsakos Group embarks upon a very aggressive newbuilding program.
  • Tsakos Shipping and Trading S.A. obtains ISO and ISM Code accreditation by Lloyd's Register of Shipping.
  • Establishment of the Tsakos Group S&P division.
  • MIF Ltd takes delivery of its first VLCC Newbuilding, mt MILLENNIUM, built by Hyundai Heavy Industries, South Korea.
  • 1998
  • Tsakos Shipping and Trading S.A. obtains ISO 14001:1996 accreditation by Lloyd's Register of Shipping for its environmental management system.
  • The Company is the first Greek shipping group to acquire this accreditation.
  • As at the end of 1999 the Tsakos Fleet numbers 54 vessels.
  • 2000
  • The Group celebrates its 30th Anniversary.
  • The Tsakos fleet numbers 60 vessels, including Newbuildings.
  • 2002
  • Tsakos Energy Navigation Ltd is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
  • Establishment of Tsakos Commerce S.A.
  • The Company handles the commercial and trading activities of the Group and serves as the exclusive wet/gas/container and dry cargo chartering broker for the Tsakos Group fleet.
  • 2004
  • Tsakos Energy Navigation Ltd enters LNG market.
  • Since 1997 Tsakos Group took delivery of 21 Newbuildings ranging from product carriers to VLCCs size.
  • Fleet numbers 48 vessels, with a total capacity in excess of dwt 5.000.000 tones.
  • 2005
  • Participation in oil exploration project in Papua New Guinea.
  • The Group manages a fleet of 71 vessels (tankers, bulk carriers, containers, ro-ro, LNG) including Newbuildings.
  • The Tsakos Group takes delivery of 7 Newbuildings (5 tanker and 2 container vessels).
  • 2006
  • TEN Ltd takes-over the Western Petroleum tanker fleet, comprising of 6 vessels x DWT 53.000 ice class 1A and 3 vessels x DWT 116,000 ice class 1A newbuilding tankers.
  • Tsakos Group took delivery of 10 Newbuildings (7 ice class tanker and 3 container vessels).
  • The Tsakos Group fleet numbers 86 vessels (tankers, bulk carriers, containers, ro-ro, LNG) including Newbuildings of about DWT 8.6M and TEUs 40.000 container capacity.
  • Tsakos Energy Navigation Ltd enters Ice Class 1-A tanker market.
  • 2007
  • Tsakos Industrias Navales delivers its first newbuilding barge and a further order for construction of an additional barge to be delivered within 2008.
  • The Tsakos Group fleet numbers 84 vessels ( tankers, bulk carriers, containers, ro-ro, LNG) including Newbuildings, of about DWT 9.0 million and in excess of TEUs 32.000 container capacity.
  • Tsakos Group took delivery of 12 Newbuildings (8 tankers 1 LNG vessel, 1 container and 2 bulk carrier vessels).
  • 2008
  • Tsakos Group takes delivery of 6 Newbuilding (4 tanker and 2 bulk carrier vessels).
  • The Tsakos Group fleet numbers a fleet of 81 vessels (tankers, bulk carriers, containers, ro-ro, LNG) including Newbuildings of about DWT 9.0 million and in excess of TEUs 32.000 container capacity.

  • The Tsakos Group fleet numbers 80 vessels ( tankers, bulk carriers, containers, ro-ro, LNG) including Newbuildings of about DWT 8.3 million and in excess of TEUs 32.000 container capacity.
  • Tsakos Group takes delivery of 7 Newbuildings (tanker vessels).
  • 2010
  • Tsakos Group takes delivery of 3 Newbuilding (tanker vessels).
  • Establishment of the Maria Tsakos- International Centre for Maritime Research and Tradition, in Chios, Greece.
  • Establishment of Tsakos Columbia Shipmanagement (TCM) S.A.
  • 2011
  • Tsakos Group takes delivery of 2 Newbuildings (tanker vessels).
  • 2012
  • Tsakos Energy Navigation Ltd enters the Shuttle Tankers.
  • Inauguration of St. Nicholas Preparatory School, Tema, Ghana.
  • Tsakos Group takes delivery of 1 Newbuilding (tanker vessel).
  • 2013
  • “Maria’s Home – Education and Culture Campus” is established in Kardamyla, Chios
  • TEN embarks on long term collaboration with Statoil
  • December 2013 TEN finalizes agreement with Statoil to build 9 Aframax vessels which will be placed under long term employment with Statoil. TCM is approved by Statoil to undertake vessel technical management.
  • Tsakos Group takes delivery of 3 Newbuilding (1 tanker and 2 shuttle tanker vessels).
  • Tsakos Columbia Shipmanagement ("TCM") S.A. establishes the Maria Tsakos TCM Academy- Training Centre.
  • Maria Tsakos TCM Academy receives accreditation as Approved Training Provider By LRs, under ISO 10015, ISO IWA 2.
  • 2014
  • Tsakos Columbia Shipmanagement ("TCM") S.A. establishes local office presence in Brazil.
  • TCM is awarded the ISO50001 certification.
  • With this certification TCM joins an elite group of ship management companies around the world that have voluntarily certified their systems and processes, demonstrating best practices for energy efficiency, use and conservation onboard the fleet.
  • Establishment of Tsakos Maritime Philippines Inc, Manila.
